I had the opportunity to support the Singapore Polytechnic Innovation & Implementation (I&I) Showcase, where I represented both the SIP (Sustainable Innovation Project) and Singapore Polytechnic as part of a booth engagement team.
During the event, my team and I interacted with families, prospective students, and industry professionals to share insights about SIP and our project work. Throughout these interactions, I developed stronger communication and presentation skills by learning how to explain technical concepts in a clear, structured, and engaging manner to individuals from different backgrounds!
Presenting our projects to visitors and stakeholders also helped me build confidence in public speaking. Answering questions and discussing our work in real time improved my ability to think critically and to adapt my explanations based on the audience.
Working closely with my team throughout the showcase strengthened my teamwork and collaboration skills, while the responsibility of representing our projects and institution improved my professionalism and confidence in stakeholder engagement. Overall, the experience allowed me to grow both personally and professionally while developing skills that are valuable in engineering environments.
